20 Lessons from my 20s

Niké you are powerful and can manifest anything you want.

It’s okay to let go of people, things and situations that are no longer serving you.

You’re responsible for your own joy.

Most of life is just packaging.

Never fake orgasms, it’s not fair to you or them.

No or I don’t know are acceptable answers.

It’s much easier and more fun to show up in the world as yourself.

Travel far and travel often. A lot of joy exists in the unknown.

Life isn’t fair…and that’s okay.

You’re only ever as sexy as you feel.

Don’t dim your light to make others comfortable.

Give others the same grace you want them to show you.

Ask for what you want. A closed mouth isn’t fed.

Take moments to reflect inwardly, see your faults, make adjustments

Take time to rest.

If you decided to stay home, you ain’t missing shit…you’re right where you should be.

It’s okay to be the first to say sorry.

It’s not that deep.

It will all work out in the end.

Life is short…don’t forget to live.

Sierra Leone is such a unique blend of cultures and traditions. So when @ubagroup sent an open call for it’s #UBATasteOfAfrica I wanted to showcase that fusion in food. I give you a Sierra Leonean spin on a traditional dish “Fish and Chips”. What you see is a Gari coated spiced Mina fish, served with sweet potato chips and a grun soup slaw.Grun soup is one of those things you learn to make before they trust you with a fire and is the perfect combination of sweet, salty, spicy and sour. It’s the perfect freshness to pair with this deliciously deep fried dish. Enjoy.

Before the hashtags. Before the trends. Before the algorithms.
African women were already resisting, organizing, mobilizing, and leading movements that changed history. ✊🏾🔥

The very first session today, set the tone powerfully with an unforgettable monologue by Adenike Hamilton on the theme: “Feminism Before the Hashtag.”

From Ghana to Nigeria to Sierra Leone, she took us through the stories of African women who built movements long before social media existed, women who organized in communities, challenged injustice, created safe spaces, and fought systems with nothing but courage, collective action, and conviction.

And then came the question that stayed with everyone in the room:

“If social media disappeared today, would the feminist movement still survive?”

A question that challenged us to reflect deeply on what movement-building truly means beyond visibility, beyond trends, and beyond digital validation.

This session was not just a conversation. It was a reminder that feminism did not begin online, and it will not end there. The power has always lived within communities, within collective voices, and within women bold enough to imagine change before the world was watching.

Now we’re bringing the conversation to you:
Do you think feminist movements can survive without social media? Let’s chat below.

We are going to set the tone with this,
intentional, strategic, and impactful.

Before the hashtags. Before the viral posts. Before digital activism became mainstream, African women were already building power, organizing communities, resisting oppression, and shaping movements that transformed societies.

At Feminist Forge 2.0, acclaimed storyteller, filmmaker, and multimedia creator Adenike (Niké) Hamilton will lead us through a powerful monologue presentation on:

“Feminism Before the Hashtag: How African Women Built Power Without the Internet”

Niké Hamilton is the Founder and Creative Director of 3rd Culture Kid Productions and has spent over a decade using storytelling, film, and narrative change to center women, culture, social justice, and resistance. Her work has been featured on global platforms including Al Jazeera, Deutsche Welle, and the British Journal of Photography.

Through her storytelling fellowships and creative work across Africa, she has trained and empowered young women to use storytelling as a tool for movement-building, advocacy, and transformation, a vision deeply aligned with the spirit of Feminist Forge.

This monologue will take us through history, memory, resistance, and the untold stories of African women who built movements long before the internet existed.

Expect truth. Expect emotion. Expect power. 🔥
