I’ve been asked to find some images from my archive recently, which has meant trawling through lots of hard drives. The nice thing about that is I keep finding images that I’d forgotten taking 😆

Today’s standout vehicle is this prototype 100 inch Land Rover from the late 1970s, photographed here with retired engineer and Mr Land Rover, Roger Crathorne.
.
After serving its purpose convincing the British Leyland board that they should invest in creating a coil-sprung Land Rover to replace the leaf-spring Series III, it was used for years as an engineering hack, mainly in use as a recovery vehicle for the Eastnor Castle estate.
.
Every dent tells a story, while its pillow-soft suspension and throaty V8 exhaust gives it a character that’s hopefully evident from these photos.
.
The vehicle is now kept safe at the @dunsfoldcollection, along with some of the other 100 inch prototypes produced by Land Rover in the late 1970s/early 80s. I love it!
