Needed
95% of women are depleted. That's why we're Needed.
- Fertility through perimenopause
- 15,000+ practitioners
- Trusted by 500,000+ Women

National pregnancy and breastfeeding nutrition standards were first established in 1941. 85 years later, these standards still rely heavily on research done on non-pregnant populations, largely, men.
These standards guide doctors' recommendations and prenatal vitamin formulation. Nearly every pregnant woman in the U.S. takes a prenatal vitamin, yet 95% are left nutritionally depleted.
Motherhood asks everything of us. Let’s deliver what’s Needed.
Today, we took out a full-page ad in the @nytimes to demand an end to outdated, bare-minimum standards. We formulate for what women actually need to thrive across the Motherspan™, but to truly change women's health, we have to raise the standard for everyone.
Join the movement. Visit the link in our bio to sign the petition to Congress and other key federal agencies to demand nutrition standards actually built for women.

Most women are told they’re “covered” nutritionally…but what if the standard was never built for women in the first place?
In this conversation with @juliesawaya , co-founder of @needed , we unpack why so many women can be doing everything “right” and still feel depleted.
Why the RDA was created around avoiding disease, not helping women thrive.
And why nourishment isn’t one-size-fits-all — it’s personal, dynamic, and deeply human.
This episode is an invitation to question what you’ve been told, listen more closely to your body, and redefine what optimal really means for you 🤍

Motherhood isn’t a sprint — it’s the ultimate endurance sport.
From sustaining marathon-level effort in labor to losing 700+ hours of sleep in a baby’s first year, the science is clear: motherhood pushes the human body to its limits.
This weekend, as New York runs its marathon, Needed is taking to the streets — celebrating motherhood’s endurance with our new campaign featuring Needed Champions, from IVF journeys to sideline cheers at soccer practice.
We’re also proud to partner with @everymomcounts for a special warm-up event, shining a light on the support that all mothers need — one that doesn’t end at the finish line.
Because mothers deserve the same recognition, recovery, and support as any elite athlete.
We’re in it with you. For the long run.

Coming off two powerful weeks in Washington DC.
Earlier this month, we attended #ACOG2026 and shared our own clinical research with OB/GYNs and health care professionals in a poster presentation – and were the only prenatal supplement company presenting research during the session!
Our findings showed that many pregnant women taking standard prenatals had insufficient levels of several nutrients including vitamin D (65%), vitamin B6 (66%), selenium (35%), zinc (18%), and vitamin C (19%).** We had important conversations with clinicians about our findings and why a higher standard for prenatal nutrition is needed.
Needed Science advisor, Dr. Leslie Stone in collaboration with Dr. Danielle Christifano, presented a workshop on “Optimizing Prenatal Nutrition and Supplementation: Evidence-Informed Strategies in Clinical Practice” that drew a standing room only crowd of nearly 200 clinicians! Exciting to see growing engagement from practitioners seeking more up-to-date, evidence-based approaches to prenatal nutrition!
We dug into the work Needed is doing to advocate for updates to nutrition standards for pregnant and breastfeeding women with OB/GYNs and health care professionals, and how these standards impact maternal and child health.Together, we are demanding more for mothers!
**Based on the Needed Prenatal Nutrient Status Study, an observational, cross-sectional clinical research study.

Perimenopause can start years before periods stop.
Many women are in it and don't know it yet.
No one told us what to look for. We're changing that.

On Wednesday, Chamber of Mothers hosted our 2026 Power Breakfast, presented in partnership with @needed at The Library of Congress in Washington, D.C.
We are leaving empowered, joyful, connected, and committed—knowing that change is possible when we come together.
We heard from bipartisan Members of Congress—Rep. Lauren Underwood (D-IL-14) and Rep. Ryan Mackenzie (R-PA-7)—as well as leading experts in maternal health:
Nicolle L. Arthun, Navajo Nurse-Midwife & Systems Builder, on reclaiming indigenous birthing practices.
Onouwem U. Nseyo, MD, OB/GYN, on the needs of moms in those early days—and far beyond.
Regan Bailey, PhD, RD, FSU Professor & Director of ICON-Health, on the importance of nutriton as a lever to invest in nourishing mothers.
Corinne Low, PhD, Wharton Economist and Author of Having It All, on the connection between maternal health, the economy, and everyday needs like childcare.
Ryan Woodbury and Julie Sawaya, co-CEOs of @needed, on maternal nutrition and the work their team at Needed is doing to ensure mothers are properly supported.
Erin Erenberg, our CEO, on the work of a mother—and the work all of you are doing every day across this country.
We also delivered hundreds of your messages directly to lawmakers on Capitol Hill. The voices shaping this conversation are the ones that matter most: yours. #ChamberOfMothers #Needed

Your body has one connected story.
Fertility. Energy. Mood. Recovery. These aren't isolated symptoms. They're all downstream of the same foundational systems: metabolism, hormones, inflammation, and nutrient status.
The renaming of PCOS to PMOS is a signal. Metabolism and reproductive health are deeply linked and many of the nutrients most critical to that connection are the ones women are most commonly depleted in.
Magnesium. Vitamin D. B vitamins. Zinc. Omega-3s. Selenium.
The list is familiar because the need is real and it doesn't stop at fertility. It runs all the way through pregnancy, postpartum, and beyond.
Women's health deserves systems-level thinking. Not symptom masking, but real support for the physiology underneath it all.
Disclaimers:
†Nutrient comparisons refer to the average amount of vitamins and minerals of leading prenatals compared to Needed as of December 2025.
‡8x more nutrition refers to the average amount of vitamins and minerals of leading prenatals as of December 2025. Brand A: 7x, Brand B: 6x, Brand C: 6x, Brand D: 13x.
