IN THE LAB - EP 1: BUTOONG TOY RELEASE
Nikko "Butong" Cabatas is a graphic illustrator based in Cebu, Philippines. He has worked with a lot of notable brands, namely DBTK, MSTR, Secret Fresh, and Highminds to name a few. His graphic series called "Gagmayng Tao" is a personal project that features different artists, creatives, and personalities that he has met along his journey as an artist. This led him to create his first original character "Butoong", combining the words "Butong" which is the Bisaya word for coconut, and "Toon", a short form of cartoon.

As a kid, he was bullied with the same moniker due to his "upaw" or bald head look. As time went by, he had learned to accept it, and it became his nickname. This coconut-head character embodies who Nikko is deep inside. What used to be something that people made fun of is now an empowering character to Nikko that brings new life and fun to the toy art world.

BUTOONG was launched last April 25, 2026 and is Nikko's first venture into designing art toys. They are limited to 10pcs, and are available at NEUE DesignStore in Cebu City. Standard retail price is P5,000 and comes with a numbered Certificate of Authenticity card.

After some delay, finally we are releasing the first episode of IN THE LAB this weekend. Here is a sneak preview featuring the first toy drop of @ncseventhree named BUTOONG.❤️💚💙
