I’m back with another designer special editorial, this time with photographer Matt Easton for Vogue Arabia.
We had the great pleasure of shooting the beautiful and captivating Egyptian-Palestinian actress #MayCalamawy in Prada.
We packed a bunch of amazing pieces from Miuccia and Raf and got on the Staten Island Ferry for a few joy rides back and forth capturing the the modern, artful elegance of Prada and their Galleria bag, against the iconic NYC shoreline and Statue of Liberty in the background.
May had a very special aura about her and we got on like a house on fire right away. We chatted about Shamanic practices, psychedelics, spiritual practices and how all of that supports creative work throughout our day. A woman you would want to instantly be friends with. She’s defintiely one to watch! 🔥

Two years ago, I styled my dear friend Batsheva’s FW’24 runway show where we made a radical casting choice at the time to only use models over the age of 40. One of them was designer and stylist Victoria Bartlett, wearing a sweater that simply said HAG.
That sweater is now in the Met as part of the ‘Costume Art’ exhibition. No big deal!
Well it seemed like a bold move at the time, but the most recent shows featured more older models than ever before.
This shift didn’t happen overnight though. Phoebe Philo famously cast 80-year-old Joan Didion for Celine back in 2015 and the internet lost its mind. Then came Dame Maggie Smith at a spry 88 for Loewe, shot by Juergen Teller - unretouched. Cathy Horyn, Diane Pernet, and Demna’s own mum on the Balenciaga runway, Kristin Scott Thomas for Miu Miu, basically the entire splendid cast of Haider Ackermann’s most recent show for Tom Ford, Chanel opening with 50-year-old Stephanie Cavalli to great fanfare. Or what about Paulina Porizkova, who at 61 has done more for the older demographic than anyone. (see her on the Vogue cover I styled). And you would’ve had to be living under a rock to miss Anna Wintour and Meryl Streep on another recent cover of Vogue. Anna wrote in the magazine, “I feel age is actually an advantage.”
Older women ARE fashion’s primary demographic. We have the money, the taste, and the confidence to show up in our full power. Let’s not let this be just another trend.
Fashion that celebrates women tends to end up in museums.
Congrats to my bestie @batshevdress for having the courage to lead the way.
Swipe for the fittings, the runway, and the moment.

Notes and a Mood for a Tuesday:
Where and When are you right now? Just in the HERE and NOW, where else could you be? Make art, do yoga, drink in the sun, wear a pointy bra (why not?) or a pop of green and roll around in the grass with abandon.
Most of all turn paranoia into PRONOIA, my new favorite word:
def: “Pronoia is the belief that the world is conspiring to do you good, acting as the positive counterpart to paranoia. It is a mindset where individuals feel supported by the universe, seeing opportunities rather than threats. This perspective, often linked to optimism and deep gratitude, recontextualizes challenges as opportunities.”

I ran into a fashion friend on the street on the way to Pilates the other morning. I was glad I’d taken an extra sixty seconds to put on a good shoe because “every exit is a potential entrance.”
In New York you’re not just running to class, you’re bound to run into someone you know so give it a second thought. Haute Sport is my answer to that: the high-low mishmash that makes your gym commute as considered as your dinner outfit. Luxe pieces, athletic foundations, and a shoe that has no business being near a reformer, all mixed together, why not?
Swipe for three ways I’m working it this season —from pilates to yoga and beyond - plus some refs cuz you know I love a mood, and all the links are in my full letter on Substack, published today! Check it out through my Link in bio. Thanks to Phoebe Philo for always nailing just right.
So tell me: are you a Pilates addict, a runner, or a devotee of the mat like me? Drop it below — I want to know who I’m dressing…XxN 🙏🏻✨
