Honeymoon Part 3: Frankfurt, Germany

Germany was really the tour of public transportation. Bus, tram, subway, trains, Nick was in heaven. We watched a local criterium. We had dinner at a Michelin star restaurant. Went to an amazing bottle house (135+ beers) with fantastic Indian food. Went to the Städel museum (has 700 years worth of art) and visited the Heidelberg castle.

Hopefully next time we’re in Europe it’s to stay.

Honeymoon Part 2: Thun, Switzerland

We drove to Switzerland which involved 2 car trains under the mountains! Nick got a clunker to ride around. We hiked Niederhorn ridge (took a funicular and a cable car to the top), and made friends with cows! We kayaked in Lake Thun and again had amazing food. One place was Mexican and had an amazing pumpkin based Mayan dish. This was probably my favorite stop!

Honeymoon Part 1: Nice, France

Unfortunately we were delayed leaving Charlotte and spent the night in Atlanta, putting us 24 hours behind. And then Nick’s bike was broken by the airline. Not a great start. But being able to see the Tour de France in person and witness how many people are excited about it to was amazing. We also went aquahiking in the Verdon Gorge and had a rocky beach day on the Mediterranean. Enjoyed such good food in Nice. Including pizza, pasta, panna cotta, and more. Visited Allez Hops, a brewery and beer store run by an American couple who have lived in Chicago, Cincinnati, Charlotte and now Nice.

Swipe to see aftermath of the story below (blood warning)

A few months back I smashed my face into the ground on a typical Sunday ride, alone (not from race pictured). I was unconscious for a few minutes and had (and still don’t) no idea what happened. @carybeary123 came to get me and brought me to the ER. I was lucky and all my concussion symptoms cleared up in a week and am only left with some scars. A lot of people aren’t that lucky. @loveyourbrain helps provide resources to all to enable them get back to the sport they love. For bike month @newtype.cycling is hoping to raise $5,000 for LYB. If you can please donate at the link below: https://give.loveyourbrain.com/team/563089
