Thursday, September 17 another Narrows Center debut! This time it's Last Comic Standing winner and former Paralympic Soccer player, Josh Blue. Josh has wowed audiences for the last 20 years.

A full house today for Herman’s Hermits starring Peter Noone! It was a true sing-a-long from start to finish. Thank you to all in attendance.

The Airwaves Belonged to the People: WBCN and The American Revolution screens this Saturday, May 30, at the Narrows Center for the Arts in Fall River, followed by a post-screening discussion and Q&A with director Bill Lichtenstein and WBCN’s Sam Kopper. The award-winning film tells the story of the legendary Boston radio station where music, politics, news, and community converged on the air — helping to end a war, drive an unpopular president from office, and give voice to movements that previously had not been heard. Featuring rare archival material from Bruce Springsteen, Patti Smith, Jane Fonda, Abbie Hoffman, Jerry Garcia, Lou Reed, David Bowie, and many others. See the film the Boston Globe said audiences “watch with awe.”

One week away! Narrows Center is pleased to present a film screening of The Airwaves Belonged to the People: WBCN and The American Revolution. The film — newly re-released under its expanded title — tells the story of how a Boston rock radio station helped ignite the cultural and political revolution of the late 1960s and beyond, becoming both participant and platform for the anti-war movement, civil rights, women’s and LGBTQ rights, and the rise of countercultural media.

Featuring members of the legendary WBCN airstaff, along with rare early radio appearances by David Bowie, Lou Reed, Jane Fonda, Abbie Hoffman, Jerry Garcia, Bruce Springsteen, and Patti Smith. Tickets at www.narrowscenter.org

She had other ideas. It was her first live radio performance. When she started unleashing a stream of obscenities, the announcer back at the studio had his hand on the kill switch.

He didn’t use it. That was WBCN.
