LA friends! Come check out the premiere of the short film A Race in the Sun at the LA Black Film Festival on Sat 2/10 at 8pm. (Ticket info at link in bio—Shorts program 10) The film features Ayesha McGowan, the first African American woman to become a professional cyclist. Directed and produced by @kay_nic and ✂️ by yours truly.

I’m thrilled for the release of “FLOWERS for Bianca”, which tells the unsung story of Harlem rapper Bianca Bonnie whose debut single “Chicken Noodle Soup” created the blueprint for viral dance trends. The film was directed by @whitneyskauge and edited by @nadinemundo for @breakwaterstudios and #YouTubeBlack

I’m super excited to share the film I edited IN HER ELEMENT premieres on BET this Friday 2/24 9pm ET / 8pm CT. Massive thanks to director @i_am_idil and producer @rasheedawinfield for creating this wonderful film and bringing me on to the team. Shout out to @dopfletch for capturing powerful footage and @hannelorestory for kicking off the edit! 1. My dad, Jose, on the left, training the track team on the commune in middle TN. He says during track the meets all the local kids would make fun of the Farm kids, call them names, taunt and throw things at them as they ran. BUT all the Farm kids would clean up and win, placing 1st, 2nd, 3rd and 4th!
2. Jose teaching a music class to kids, looks like he’s holding a clave’.
3. My dad and mom (not hugging) in a crowd of hippies at Sunday services.

Two years ago I married this amazing man on a Topanga hillside in California. Back then we had no idea how much the world would change.
