🎬I wrote 'Temple' in 2023, a film born from my lived experience of generational trauma and ancestral grief carried in the body as part of the post-genocide generation of the 1994 genocide against the Tutsi.

🎬This story is deeply personal, but it is also universal.

🎬It explores what it means to live with rage, pain, and anger, and the journey of moving through that weight in search of something greater: a return to divinity, to birthright, to freedom beyond an identity shaped by loss and suffering. It is about healing, reconnecting with the land, our lineages, and our divine capacity to love and be loved by God.

🎬'Temple' speaks to anyone impacted by colonial violence, genocide, or war to those who have ever questioned why so much pain exists, and what it means to carry it in the body.

🎬One of my favorite scenes shows me running deeper into a dark forest, chased by something unseen. Fear drives me forward until I collapse from exhaustion. The camera circles, revealing me sweating blood a visceral expression of trying to outrun the ancestral grief encoded in memory, in lineage, in blood.

🎬Last year, Temple was shortlisted at Berlin Commercial Festival and LA Shorts. I’m deeply grateful for how the film has been received.

🎬Through this work, I’ve found a way to transmute pain through artistry to alchemize heaviness into light, and to create space for healing through embodied storytelling and InforMotion.

Today, we honour the beginning of Kwibuka 32🕯.
A time to remember, reflect, and stand together in remembrance for all the lives lost and impacted in the 1994 Genocide againest the Tutsi💔

Kwibuka is not only about looking back, but also about carrying forward the truth, resilience, and unity that define us. We remember the lives lost, the stories silenced, and the strength that continues to rise from our history.

I am deeply honoured to have been part of “The Gift of Time”, a powerful performance created during Kwibuka 30 in 2024. (Extract clip)

Being part of that moment was a profound reminder of the role art plays in preserving memory, expressing grief, and nurturing hope.

As we begin this commemoration, may we continue to remember, to learn, and to stand together ensuring that history is never forgotten.
