Just got back from Seattle, and the whole trip felt like a full-circle moment. My brother and mentor, @swamburger, who helped raise me as an MC in the Orlando Hip Hop scene, flew me out to play a show with his group, @mugsandpockets, and some local pillars/heavyhitters of the Seattle scene.
He’s been grinding out there for a few years now, and you could really feel the energy he’s been building in the community reflected through the crowd. The vibes were phenomenal, and the show from start to finish was packed with raw talent. Swam has always been great at curating shows. Iykyk.
One of my favorite parts of the trip was sitting with Swam, revisiting our time with Second Subject, the label that shaped so much of who I am as an artist. We listened to our old records (and other Second Sub artists) and reflected on the highs, lows, and everything in between. It hit deep. Shouts to my Sec Sub fam.. soooo much talent and so many memories.
On top of all that, I unexpectedly found out the homie @blueprint was playing in Seattle at the same time on his tour with @grieves, and I caught his set literally on my way to the airport to come home. First time playing Seattle in six years .. reconnected with old friends, met new ones. Beautiful night, beautiful trip.
Thank you so much for the warm welcome back, Seattle. Top notch!
