Congratulations to July's Featured Commercial of the Month (#FCOTM) selection!
The spot, NBA Finals- "The Toast", was submitted by Dylan Kahn @MrPickle.
He writes: I was enthusiastic when invited to design a spot for the NBA finals with director @DaveLaden. The initial scripts called for an elegant party at an NBA player's home. After scouting mansions, we decided on The Cicada restaurant in the historic Oviatt building in Downtown LA.
Decorator @GailOtter & her team dressed both floors of the 15000 sq. ft. space. We created a bandstand, 3 lounges in different styles to differentiate the spaces and an apartment within the space.
Art directors @MundoWithVision and @LisaCMastro assisted me in the fabrication of some scenery and many custom pieces including a basketball court complete with deco glass illuminated backboards and handmade crystal nets. We built a dimensional pattern by stacking multiple layers of c&c routed black plexiglass that was polished and glued together.
The Larry O’Brien trophy is a symbol of the finals but was also a thematic element of the film and design of this design, displayed by the themed sculpture in ice and acrylic and several prop pieces.
Like basketball, it’s all about teamwork. It was a challenging but rewarding project that could only be achieved by assembling an incredible team I have been fortunate and thankful to collaborate with for many years.
