Seeing this headline and article from @castingnetworks this morning was such a lovely way to start the day. It’s a giant honor to be in a position to share about the industry, talk about some early struggles and ultimately share that there is space for us in this industry. We need more Latinos in Hollywood. We need more of our peers from historically and intentionally marginalized communities. We have a long ways to go to ensure more stories are told from a variety of perspectives, and advocate for talent and artists.

Some casting news from from the last week, the epic and iconic @kenjeong joining us on 52nd State feels like a full circle moment. Lucky to have him is an understatement.

When I lived in Venice beach about 11-12 years ago I visited a set he was on and snapped a photo with him once he wrapped. He was so incredibly kind to every single person saying hi to him, crew and passerbyers, but he’s even more kind now that he joined our film! What a treat, I can’t wait for audiences to see him in a different light which he nailed as great as we expected him too, and even more deeply than we could have ever imagined.

Alan Luna is a Casting Director and Producer for TV, Film and Animation. He’s a first generation Mexican-American chicano, born and raised in Los Angeles. Alan believes supporting and mentoring emerging artists and filmmakers creates a lasting impact in entertainment, including promoting authentic representation on screen and behind the scenes, and creates a pipeline for historically unseen communities to share their stories. Alan is a member of the Academy of Television Arts & Sciences.
