An example of Japanese Metabolist architecture in Warsaw… The Universus Building was originally planned to be a Soviet exhibition pavilion, but ended up opening in 1980 as Warsaw’s largest bookstore. It was very popular at the time, and included meeting rooms and cafés, but it closed during the political and economic changes of the early 90s, and then became an office building. It was purchased in 2015 and nearly torn down - to be replaced with an office tower - but was saved by the efforts of preservationists. It’s still a mixed use office building, with shops and restaurants. Thanks to @whitemadmagazine for the info.
