Personally, I don’t think there will ever be another camera as impactful as the VX1000, but the FX6has the potential to come close. The audio alone on the VX1000 defined an entire era of skateboarding. Ultra crispy sound paired with the MK1 fisheye, it really gave skateboarding its own look for so many years. The @sonycine FX6 feels like the modern evolution. It has an incredibly lightweight form factor, exceptional low-light performance, and the ability to shoot vertical fisheye for social platforms making it uniquely suited for the current landscape. But price also plays a big factor and with the way this camera holds its value, I still think it’s out of reach for the majority of up-and-coming skateboarding filmmakers so only time will tell.

Staying on the gimbal with no lens changes made it so we could move fast in between focal lengths for a variety of shots within a short amount of time.
Yes, we were locked at f4, but our DP relied on proper lighting + deeper focus over shallow bokeh. Gimbal operating for Riot Games/ LCS. #filmmaking
In 2025 I progressed more in skating than i have in my entire life. I found a new love for the board and every session I found myself gaining momentum.
