One can’t really describe how it feels to connect with a person making up music together. Perhaps dancing for hours with someone would be a start, if that dancing feels new and fresh. To have had the time to do so with Chris Leidhecker and Ken is wonderful. Chris embodied making art as a team endeavor. It would have happened many more times. I feel good knowing that despite the crushing sadness it can’t. I was elated to hear and see yesterday just how many people shared this experience. #chrisleidhecker

Billy Martin + Matt Glassmeyer + Jonathan Goldberger release “State Fête” on Adhyaropa Records today. It streams and there is vinyl at AdhyaropaRecords.bandcamp. Cds, too.

It is a completely improvised recording. The three had never played together before the first notes you hear. “Maybe not a half hour” was the only discussion.

Illy B: Drums, bamboo, metal, pandeiro. Glassmeyer: modified Wurlitzer (“Wurl”), reedless tenor, found sounds. Goldberger : guitar, 12 string, baritone guitar, electronics. Space and swapping. Ideas and statements.
