I had the honor of collaborating with director Stephanie Johnes to create the t-shirt design for Maya and the Wave – a powerful documentary about pro surfer Maya Gabeira, who broke barriers in a male-dominated sport. The film received a lot of love on the festival circuit and inspired so many, especially young women, they were looking for something to bring home to remember it. I created an illustration inspired by the footage of her riding these immense waves. She was a little spec in the vast ocean as she appeared on her board. She became one with the rhythm of the sea. 🌊✨

Ten years in the making, this award- winning film follows the journey of Maya Gabeira as she cheats death and defies the patriarchy to become the first woman to make a world record in big wave surfing.
