Lucas Wilson is a New York-based hairstylist. His work is defined by a desire to highlight his subjects’ natural beauty and a daring illustrative panache, drawing upon references such as the drawings of Antonio Lopez and the raw distorted portraits of Alice Neel. Wilson moved to New York to study photography before working as a producer, an unconventional path that has armed him with understanding of the technicalities of the camera and the collaborative nature of a set. He has since collaborated extensively with creatives like #EthanJamesGreen, #MalinaJosephGilchrist, and @dickpageface, his spirited styling appearing in campaigns for @marcjacobs and @muglerofficial and on the covers of @i_d, @bazaarfrance and @thepopmag. “I like things to feel believable. Even when a shoot is more wild or conceptual, I always want the hair to feel real.”
