We can think of no better way to celebrate DD’s 15th Anniversary than by bringing one of the company’s most celebrated works back to where it first began.

10 years ago, @theaaronmarcellus and i might have lied to the formidable former Artistic Director of @jacobspillow Ella Baff, and told her that Aaron had already founded a choir that could support the two of us performing at the 2013 Jacob’s Pillow Gala. “..WHEREAS, May 25 was declared "National Tap Dance Day" in 1989 by former President George H.W. Bush, commemorating the life and contributions of Bill "Bojangles" Robinson.

NOW, THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED that the Town of Chapel Hill commends the North Carolina Youth Tap Ensemble (NCYTE) on its 40th anniversary and declares May 25, 2023 to be

National Tap Dance Day

in Chapel Hill and encourages town residents to help celebrate this important milestone by learning about the history and traditions of percussive dance forms including rhythm tap dance; and
