Five Questions: Mark System
1 - How is music important in your life?
R: As important as breathing.
I think everyone should make music too.
Drumming and singing is in our DNA.
2 - What is the most memorable and personal moment involving music that you remember?
R: My first memory of seeing vinyl and taking an interest in understanding music, when I was very young.
My Dad played a recording of a marching band to me and described how it sounded like they were marching over a hill as the volume increased and decreased.
The volume was controlled by the band and composition rather than the recording.
He showed me how to interpret music in a creative way.
I was fascinated and have been ever since.
3 - What is the first music artist that comes to your mind right now?
R: My neighbour played Dire Straits tunes for at least an hour (quite loud) the other day.
It was a bit 'samey'.
But, I realised how many hits they had and how they repeated signature melody riffs throughout the years.
They're one of the best-selling music artists of all time.
4 - What is your favourite album from this artist?
R: Definitely N/A for me.
5 - What is your favourite song from this album?
R: Walk of Life - In the 80s, when I was a kid on holiday, I saw a guy performing in a bar/restaurant a few times.
It made a big impression on me.
He was singing, playing guitar and keys, surrounded by synths and an Atari.
It was basically a full studio setup - total overkill.
It would take him at least five minutes between songs to get everything loaded and occasionally the whole thing would crash halfway through a song.
When it all worked, it sounded incredible!
Walk of Life was in his repertoire.
It’s stuck with me ever since and I'm still surrounded myself with kit too.
Thank you Mark!

IMPORTANT UPDATE — LOST & FOUND
For those discovering us for the first time: Lost & Found is a Lisbon-based drum & bass project focused on deep listening, strong sound systems, and carefully curated international lineups—rooted in underground culture and built around community.
Due to the latest developments around @outracena_lisboa (see the recent DJ Mag article), we’ve had to adapt both the format and lineup of our upcoming event.
Lost & Found will now take place as an afternoon / late evening event, running from 17:00 to 23:00.
As part of this change, @delicatsab will no longer be performing. We’re pleased to welcome @angel_d_lite and @__softiii to the lineup; Softi will be performing in the new chill-out space, Upside.
We understand that some of you may have planned your weekend around a late night, and we sincerely apologise for any inconvenience this may cause. We ask for your continued support as we adapt and keep the project moving forward.
Daytime and early-evening events have been happening across Europe for years, and with this shift Lost & Found will be trying out its first indoor drum & bass day rave.
The club will operate exactly as it does at night.
The venue remains pitch black.
Same sound, same intensity, same international-level lineup—with the added benefit of a proper night’s sleep.
Thank you for standing with us.
