Mark Donner Ltd
Mark Donner Ltd offer a range of building services. We have specialist experience in redundant building conversions and disabled adaptations.

Garden House has received not one, but two RIBA awards!
To have the project recognised in this way is incredibly special for us at JHA,particularly for a home conceived with such care, sensitivity, and attention to the relationship between architecture, light, materiality, and landscape.
As beautifully described by the judges:
“Garden House is a subtly poetic work – rooted, tactile, and attentive – where architecture and landscape form a symbiotic relationship.”
“It is a building of quiet generosity and crafted intensity, where light, form, and landscape are woven together with precision and care.”
— Patrick Richard, East Midlands Jury Chair
We’re enormously grateful to our wonderful clients, collaborators, craftspeople, and everyone involved in bringing this project to life @markdonnerltd

We are delighted to share that Garden House has been shortlisted for an RIBA East Midlands Award.
The brief was to design a building, modest in scale, which was grounded in its context both formally and materially, whilst creating a spatially rich and crafted interior. The arrangement of the internal layout was designed to emphasise connections to the garden, designed by client Mark, and provide a synergy between the indoor and outdoor spaces.
Materially, it was imperative to deliver a building which felt of its place, with a sense of permanence and timelessness. Materials were chosen with intention including the ironstone rubble, commonplace along the ‘Lincolnshire edge’ and thrown up by farmers ploughing nearby fields, which was foraged and collected by local contractors @markdonnerltd
The main structure of the house was constructed usingSIP panels, providing high levels of air tightness, thermal efficiency and a quick build time as well as minimising on-site waste whilst allowing the realisation of the spatial richness and complexity of the architectural design.
On site renewables include photovoltaics and an Air Source Heat Pump with TESLA battery storage to capture any surplus. An MVHR system ensures fresh air is continually circulated. The result of these interventions is a highly energy efficient home with an EPC ‘A’ rating and thermal efficiency of 92%.
Alongside these ‘high-tech’ systems, internal spaces and moments within the building, the oak bench at the entrance of the house, the ash clad sweeping central staircase which forms the spine to the building, have been carefully handmade by local joiners and craftspeople.
Congratulations to our amazing clients @mark_fort_garden_design @fort_claire and the construction team @markdonnerltd
