I wrote a section for saxophones and also recorded some improvisation on tenor saxophone. Very happy to be in the company of these great musicians from around the world who came together to make this record. Many thanks to Martyn for all he does in our community and beyond 🙏🏽🙏🏽🙏🏽❤️❤️❤️ The record is out on May 15 and can be pre-ordered from the link in our bios

Wishing the happiest of birthdays to this great dude. (Pictured here jammin on my Mosrite backstage at a @kidcongopowers and the Pink Monkey Birds warm-up show in DC last month) Riff Master General, writer of hooks and music of empowerment, he became a voice for positive change in people’s lives and continues to inspire all of us. Genuinely hilarious, fun, and incredibly supportive. An incredible bandmate, collaborator, producer, musician, father, and friend. He has made, continues to make, and has directly influenced so much incredible music that has had such a huge impact on all of us.

In addition to his iconic bands and music, he also co-founded a now legendary, model independent record label where the artists actually get paid from record sales - something that is sadly not all that common even among indie labels. And he’s a real caretaker of the label and all the artists who have entrusted him with their music. A true inspiration.

He’s a deep, deep dude. Deep into music! All kinds of music from around the world, sounds, song structure, the creative process, and, most of all, the work. He puts in the work. The Punk ethos had started as something without limits, then it somehow became very limited. But streams flowed through and evolved and carried on as beacons of hope and empowerment for so many of us weirdos and misfits. Ian is the embodiment of that evolved ethos. Wishing a wonderful cosmic journey to the holy grail of feel and groove, the great master of the drums, Maestro James Gadson🙏🏽🙏🏽🙏🏽❤️❤️❤️🥁🥁🥁👑👑👑Growing up in LA there were records from the Watts 103rd Street Rhythm Band in the house and that music was a big influence on me. I didn’t find out til much later that the drummer was the same guy from that incredible Bill Withers stuff and all those hits from all those other other amazing artists. Look it up! His playing has been HUGELY influential on all of us, the world of drumming as a whole, but his feel remained untouchable.
