When I first started photographing people I desperately held onto my Olympus stylus as a safety blanket for capturing people and also found my love for indirect studio lighting.

This was before I learned how manual cameras work and eventually medium format cameras. Now, you can’t loosen my grip on my medium format camera 😂.

This photo was shot on either 400TX film or ilFlord HP5 35mm.

For @liminal.rehab , it started 13 years ago—inspired by the poem “Being Brought from Africa to America” by Phyllis Wheatley—before they even realized that movement would become their lifelong vocabulary for navigating identity, illness, and healing. Rediscovering strength through dance, their choreography lives in the space where words fall short. Pain, anger, dissociation—transformed into something visceral, something seen, something felt. Dance doesn’t simplify the being, it holds everything.
