New music video for the @niminomusic single Rest Easy. Continuing to dip my toes into 3D character modeling and rigging - I’ve got a lot to learn but enjoying the process. Shoutout to @eilon18 for helping me shooting roto footage and @trungduytrng for the invaluable grass and foliage tutorials. ⛓️to widescreen version in bio.

As an exercise I’ve been thinking of animating some quotes from books I read that stick out to me, this is the first in what might be a series, who knows?

In 2020 @niminomusic reached out to me about doing some animation work, but I was booked on a job and wasn’t able to to say yes. Since then he would periodically reach out for other projects but the timing never worked out. Last month he reached out again to see if I could do some work for his new song “Better,” and I was finally able to say yes, and it does feel somewhat like this was the project that we were meant to collaborate on. Big thank you to him and to @kylekusanagi for their patience and persistence, and if you get a chance to see the Nimino tour that kicks off tonight at the Fonda, take it!

We are excited to share that "I Was Born This Way" led by directors Daniel Junge & Sam Pollard, is premiering at @tribeca this week! Six years in the making, this inspiring documentary about singer/activist Carl Bean was a major undertaking, featuring composited interviews, motion graphics, and rotoscope-animated re-enactments throughout.

Animation can be a long and tedious process. We are giving a special shout-out to the illustrators and animators who contributed thousands of hours to the film, carefully planning and creating such beautiful work! Thank you for your incredible artistry and dedication!

For the last four years I’ve been working on rotoscope animation for an incredible and important documentary project, which will be premiering next month at the Tribeca Film Festival. It tells the story of Archbishop Carl Bean, singer of the revolutionary Motown single “I Was Born This Way” and founder of the Minority AIDS Project and the Unity Fellowship Church in Los Angeles. It was an unbelievable honor to work with my incredibly talented friends and colleagues @scotthassell and @davebardin to help bring this story to life. Link to widescreen trailer in bio.
