Award-winning architect Mohamed Fares is a key figure shaping Egypt’s creative identity. Highlights of his career trajectory include his current position as Chief Designer and Co-founder of @alchemydscairo , Founder of @mfandassociates & @alchemy.experience , Partner & Founder of @tamara__haus , and CEO of @alchemyarchitecture.ds , as well as representing Egypt at the International Young Design Entrepreneur (IYDE) Awards in 2008 held in London, and finalist of Le Grand Prix 2025 de l’Institut du Monde Arabe.
As a thought leader in design, his history extends beyond numerous commercial and residential projects and into the realm of everyday life. Fares’ creative fingerprint can be seen on his own line of eyewear, photography projects, and musical interests. His finesse for storytelling and eye for captivating visuals is on display in his work as an Auteur—occupying the Director’s chair in a number of projects.
Among his ongoing projects is iPhone Series, launched in 2017. It is a visual diary of moments captured by his iPhone along the years. The project was showcased in 2022 at SALON Art + Design in New York, in 2023 at NOMAD Exhibition in Capri, Italy, and lastly in 2024 at 1-54 Somerset House in London.
A recognition shaped by the minds and hands behind the work. This is a shared moment for our team who together build and push ideas forward every day.

The starting point was the idea of creating more than a coffee place ! Creating a cultural environment. BLK CAB has always been about coffee and people, but we began asking ourselves how architecture itself could encourage interaction, creativity, and community.
Blk cab little Portland street became more experiential and narrative-driven. We focused heavily on how people move, gather, pause, and observe. The concept evolved from simply designing a destination into designing a rhythm — a space that changes depending on the hour, the light, the music, and the people inhabiting it. @blkcablondon @kareemsgram @kaysgramm@zainasamirm - Design & Art direction: @mfandassociates — Branding: @im_branding_experience — Blk cab music : @drhanyfares

Unseen, reimagined.
Woven textures and layered materials bring depth to the Collection, where craft meets structure, and every detail reflects the rhythm of its surroundings.

@SceneTraveller: Set to sail in 2027, BENNU is reimagining the romance of Nile travel through a distinctly Egyptian lens. Inspired by the ancient Bennu bird—a symbol of renewal and cyclical return—the new dahabeya blends heritage, craftsmanship, and storytelling into an immersive floating experience between Luxor and Aswan.
Designed by Mohamed Fares and the team of Alchemy Studio and MF&Associates, the vessel moves through layers of Egypt's cultural identity, weaving together Pharaonic, Ottoman, and contemporary influences. Owned by Fady Fala and managed by Palms Hospitality, BENNU features four rooms and four suites with hand-finished interiors, collectible objects, artisanal detailing, and open terraces that dissolve the boundary between room and river.
Beneath its polished surfaces lies something deeper: a commitment to preservation. Nearly every detail onboard was created in collaboration with Egyptian artisans—from carpenters and blacksmiths to potters and textile makers—reviving disappearing crafts often lost to mass production and uniform hospitality design.
Rather than positioning the Nile as a backdrop, BENNU treats it as part of the experience itself; a living, shifting landscape that informs every detail onboard. The result not simply a luxury cruise, but a moving archive of memory, culture, and contemporary Egyptian authorship.

An Architectural Journey That Unfolds Through Reflection & Spirituality — Shaping Spatial Experiences that engages the Body, Mind, and Soul. The goal was to create a space where spirituality and simplicity align. Vernacular modernism, rooted in local traditions and climate-responsive design, offers a sense of grounding; a quiet humility that aligns with the essence of worship. @mfandassociates @khaledtrashwan @alchemydscairo
