so excited to finally share this with you all 🥹
tl;dr: worked hard for a film comp, didn’t make the cut 😅 but pls enjoy our film anyway!
when I found out about Mellow Rock Games 2025, there was less than a month left. I pitched it to Aaron—mellow climbing vids were actually one of the first things we bonded over when we met.
I’ve always wanted to tell a meaningful story—something more than just recording our climbs. we both agreed we didn’t want to act for the camera, so I picked GREAT STONEFACE for Aaron. a climb with some controversial history, and one he’d struggled with months ago. with a tight deadline and no guarantee it’d go, it was a risk—but we decided to try.
luckily, Aaron sent it in just a few sessions (light work 🫨) which gave me just enough time to review and edit the final film. I edited for 12 days straight—over 100 hours. we submitted on the very last day.
today, after watching all 6 rounds of qualifiers, turns out we didn’t make the cut 😅 but we’re still so proud to share the film ourselves! (were up against literal world-class sponsored pros already working with mellow 😭), we still learned a lot about what we’re capable of RIGHT NOW.
this project pushed Aaron as a climber—to train with intention and optimize health and recovery. it also pushed me as a filmmaker—to LET GO of perfection and self doubt, and trust the story as it unfolded.

backstory. picked up climbing to get stronger for riding... then got carried away 😅 (tbf climbing is free and just as challenging 🤷🏻♀️) but it's good to be back and the training paid off!
trackdays and working on my bike use to drain tf out of me—wrestling around ~400lbs, 12+ hrs drive/riding, heat exhaustion. I'd usually be debilitated for days after.
although I'm no where near my PR, I felt no soreness or fatigue this time thanks to my improved health stats from climbing+running! • ᴗ • esp in 100° where people have been helicoptered out.
started the day wobbly and rusty, shaved 13 sec by the end. bike feels good w new tires. glad I got to spend time w/ @othebe at our beautiful home track and even made some new friends ✧‿✧ 🏁

my purpose and goals have always been a helpful growth structure for me as a person and as a climber. my first goal ever was to climb 100 days to see if i liked the sport.
as i’ve progressed, my goals had to evolve too. some i achieved, some became irrelevant during the indoors to outdoors shift, some climbs simply broke.
after three breakthroughs last month, a bucket list goal i always dismissed for myself — v10 — suddenly doesn’t sound so crazy anymore. still well out of reach, but beginning to confront what im not ready for, to psychologically start exploring.
coming into this trip during luteal phase 😡 with a shoulder injury, i decided to take it easy, enjoy the mountains, and scout future projects. filming the boys was super inspiring too, they gave me some exciting new reccs, including a few 10s.
the trip even ended with a surprise, a pit stop in tahoe where i snagged a snowy send otw home ❄️

being offline these past couple months has helped me sleep and eat better, train consistently, and even gain some weight. happy about this trajectory, but before anything else… gotta heal up this shoulder first 🥺 a story for another time.

quickest I've completed a proj at this level, tho it suits my style! however I was so focused on the crux, I didn't prep enough for the top out, made it way harder than it is prob 🫨 key to the send was a rest day full of yummy snacks and not wasting time on bad holds. next time I'll work on the other side of the rawk
