🔄Repost from @ysuarts🔄

Last week, visiting artist Lari Gibbons joined us for the 2026 Red Press Collaborative at Youngstown State University! 🐧👏

The weeklong residency brought students together with Gibbons for daily printmaking sessions in Bliss Hall, where they created this year’s limited-edition print. She also gave a public lecture as part of the Department of Art Lecture Series, sharing insight into her process and contemporary printmaking.

Prints from this year’s collaboration are available via a $125 donation, with all proceeds supporting student travel, study abroad, and program resources. For details, contact Professor Joseph D’Uva at jduva@ysu.edu.

🔄Repost from @ysuprintmaking 🔄 Just wrapped up a fun-filled week printing with artist and professor Lari Gibbons. She shared her artwork, processes, and techniques with our students and local community. Students learned some in-depth printing techniques while both observing and participating in printing a three plate intaglio that included à la poupee printed onto Hahnemuhle Copperplate paper. We printed two variations and a few different ghosts throughout the week. Prints will be available soon more info by contacting Prof. D’Uva at jduva@ysu.edu. We also appreciate all the great coverage of the event from @wkbn_27firstnews, @ysu_jambar, and Vindy.com. A ton of printing and a packed week that included a total of three different visiting artist lectures and a faculty/staff exhibition opening reception…an awesome way to start the second half of the spring semester! @youngstownstate @ysucliffe @ysuarts @ysuprintmaking @lrgibbons

Thank you to East Central University for hosting my solo exhibition, Re: Configure in the Pogue Gallery at the Hallie Brown Ford Fine Art Center from January 8 to February 26, 2026. My favorite part was the reception and artist’s talk, where I got to meet students, faculty, and community members. Special thanks to Sarah Engel and Clint Wright for all of the incredible support, and @dianarojas.studio for making the connection. Go @ecutigers and thank you @ecutigersadmc ! Several pieces in the exhibition were made possible by @untcvad during a residency at @zeamayspringmaking .

There’s just under one month left to view “Fiber Under Pressure” in our Dogwood Gallery! On view until December 1st, this printmaking & papermaking exhibition features artists Laura Post, Kate Aitchison, and Lari Gibbons.

Laura Post:
“My work redefines portraiture by expanding the boundaries of the print medium. I combine matrices that span from the origins of the medium to the newest technologies, including non-Western and Western traditional print processes, handmade paper, and life casts. Rather than a traditional approach to portrait focused on a single individual, my works allude to the many forces that shape each person.”

Kate Aitchison:
“There is true magic in natural rhythms, the ebbs and flows of water, ecology, sand, wind, and time.   As an artist, I aim to reflect the resilience of the planet we all call home and to highlight the fragility of a shifting balance as climate change and resource extraction tip us ever closer to environmental disaster.  Human beings are participants in the landscape— integral, communal, and inventive.  We bear the responsibility of acting as part of an ecological community, leaders in the quest to save our planet, or followers in doomsday.  My work celebrates the earth and its magnificence in order to inspire others to be a part of the land as it is a part of us.”

Lari Gibbons:
“I am an artist and educator working primarily in the expanded field of printmaking. My interests focus on materials, process, and the visual language of print. My work serves as a bridge, connecting innovative approaches with traditional ones.”

16 years ago I had the great privilege of working with the visionary printmaker and renowned educator Lynwood Kreneck at @print_press , the community and professional press at UNT. It was my first time to work with Lynwood, and I was struck by his generosity, his kindness, and his sense of humor. I had always loved his colorful prints, and they matched his energetic personality so well. The print community has lost one of its greatest, but his influence lives on in so many ways. My condolences to his family.

🔄 Repost from @zeamaysprintmaking

It’s Monday, and that means it’s time to welcome a new artist-in-residence! Lari Gibbons will be joining us in the Annex and we are excited to welcome her! Follow her at @lrgibbons.

Artist Bio:

Lari Gibbons is a professor at the University of North Texas, where she has taught printmaking for more than two decades and shifted the intaglio area to a low-toxicity approach. While at Zea Mays, she will learn more about low-toxicity methods while making intaglio plates and finishing a woodblock edition for a portfolio.

Recognized by Adobe, Inc. with an Innovation in Education award, Lari has taught workshops at Anderson Ranch Arts Center (Colorado), Haystack Mountain School of Crafts (Maine), and Frogman’s Print and Paper (Iowa). She has also provided educational programming at the Amon Carter Museum of Art, Kimbell Art Museum, and the Modern Art Museum in Texas. She has participated in residencies at Mokuhanga Innovation Lab (Japan), Banff Center (Canada), Penland School of Craft (North Carolina), and Morgan Conservatory (Ohio), among others. She currently serves on the Executive Board of MAPC.

Lari received an MFA from the University of Nebraska-Lincoln, a BA from Grinnell College (Iowa), and additional training at Tamarind Institute (New Mexico).
