Krypton doesn’t glow evenly.

At certain voltages and pressures, the plasma forms striations, small bands of intensified ionization that appear as moving beads inside the tube. What looks like a continuous line is actually oscillating and uneven.

I’m drawn to krypton for this reason. It makes the structure inside the light visible.
