This beautiful song resonated with me the moment I heard it. Thank you @catburns for creating such powerful music. To me it is an ode to a past version of myself. A version that I have acknowledged, embraced and shed. Embracing the past versions of myself cleared up my vision to see the lessons to be learned, which then brought me so much freedom. We have all been there, one way or another, trying to please others before thinking of what was right for ourselves. I created this piece to reflect that journey to freedom.

In honor of Hispanic Heritage Month, we will highlight a few of our Hispanic faculty to share what their heritage means to them. Next up: Lorena Cobos @lorenaacobos

Lorena, a Bronx native, is a performing artist, educator, and choreographer. She studied dance at Hofstra University where she found her voice through movement. Some of Lorena’s credits include West Side Story film, BeautyCon and artists such as Camille Trust. Lorena sees dance as a universal language that connects people from all parts of the world. ❤️
