At LMU, the Equitable Commercial Dance Program is designed to understand the full scope of the industry and develop the tools to navigate it, all while staying rooted in an educational environment.
The program regularly hosts working choreographers and mentors within the industry, including @domkelley, @brianfriedman, @danadaners, @kai_martinez__, @tessandrachavez, and more. Students also receive direct feedback and mentorship from top agencies, including Bloc, Clear Talent Group, Go2Talent, MSA, and MTA, building relationships that extend beyond graduation.
Directed by Geri Brown and Assistant Director Lauren Froderman, the program’s curriculum reflects the structure and expectations of a professional dance career. Students move through a scaffolded sequence of courses from first-year foundations to audition-based residencies, which include mock auditions, on-camera work, and intensive training in styles that define commercial work today.
The Equitable Commercial Dance Program is a blend of academic rigor, real-world training, and access to leading voices in the industry. It’s a space where you can ask questions, take risks, and prepare for a career that’s uniquely yours!

As an @lmucfa professor and Chair of Dance at LMU, Rosalynde “Roz” LeBlanc Loo, aims to share bold moves with a toe pointed toward social change.
“At LMU we aren’t just focused on the technical craft of dance, we also analyze its impact,” she said. “Our students make those professional connections and get jobs as working dancers, but they can also ask critical questions about where dance is going and how we can be change makers in our field.”
LeBlanc Loo has spent more than 20 years in dance as a performer and choreographer. She has danced in opera productions with New York’s Metropolitan Opera and the 250th Mozart Celebration in Salzburg, Austria. She has also had her writing published in leading international dance periodicals, and her choreography has been presented in venues around the country.
And most recently, LeBlanc Loo has been in the spotlight as a 2024 @PeabodyAwards winner in the Arts Category for “Can You Bring It: Bill T. Jones and D-Man in the Waters,” a documentary she produced and co-directed, which features performances by @lmudance students.
“This film took me nine years to make. It was a true labor of love,” said LeBlanc Loo. “At times, the process of producing this film brought me to my knees. I was full of doubt and fear, wondering if it would ever get finished. So, for the film to now be recognized with this prestigious Peabody Award is further confirmation to never give up on your dreams.”

🪩 Celebrating Katie Tuchi '26 a dance major with a minor in African American studies.
Katie was actively involved in NDEO Dance Honors, served as a facilitator of a community improvisational dance forum, and participated in the Research Learning Community, bringing together embodied practice and thoughtful inquiry. Their work reflects a belief in dance as both a personal and collective language—one that deepens understanding of place, people, and self.
This summer, Katie will take their artistry abroad, performing in Spain, before returning to Los Angeles in July to pursue performance art while also working as a certified personal trainer.
Congratulations, Katie, on a journey rooted in presence, purpose, and powerful expression.
