One of my favorite things about editing @onepiecenetflix was finding the rhythm inside the chaos.

This sequence started with almost nothing on screen. The arms, the speed ramps, the jump cuts, the violence… all built one piece (you see what I did there?) at a time in the cutting room with VFX, sound, and performance shaping every frame.

But what I love most is the ending. No dialogue. No explanation. Just actors directing the cut with their eyes and letting the audience feel what happened.

On a show like One Piece, things can get big fast, rubber powers, impossible environments, even a ship climbing a mountain.

But in the edit, the goal was always the same, to keep it grounded.

Even when it is all blue screen and imagination, the performances have to feel real. If the emotion lands, the spectacle follows.

One of the most striking elements of the live-action adaptation is its visual loyalty to Eiichiro Oda’s original work. Eric Litman explains that the editorial team constantly references the manga to construct scenes, even ripping specific panel layouts directly for the screen.
