This makes sense to me. This is an artist. Someone who is aware that they can keep whipping up tornadoes of new directions without ever being depleted. That the depletion comes from the exhaustion and confusion that non-artists jam our brains with. So we can produce like milk cows and never be sure about our place. This was several years ago and I love it so much because it was utterly spontaneous and the reason I am posting it is because I just came across a piece about Michael Jackson by @traciemorrissey that I have not yet read but am about to. What's interesting is in one of the comments on Tracie's post, someone says that children were always drawn to him. And indeed my daughter, without any impressions from us, has always gone to his music, his art. The artist she orbits most the way I orbit @springsteenAnyway, my stance on child abuse of any manner is pretty rock solid, and from the vantage of a non-expert in this particular case, I have always been disturbed by the sleepovers that any adult celebrity would have with children, in such quantities over the years. The proximity in the evening when they are sleepy and just pockets of trust. Children are divinely moldable, which is why I think the best thing adults can do for them is not interfere, just be a safe place that requires nothing from the child, nothing at all. Anyway, I'll be reading @traciemorrissey 's piece with great interest.

@emilybooksgould let's talk here because X is gross. I'm not on it. I won't be on here either after this weekend. So say what you want. Get it all out. Say that a woman who is fighting the patriarchy needs to go to the hospital. Maybe they should give me a pill to calm me down. I don't know what your mental health experience was, my less-talented cohort, but you also don't know mine. However I am publishing mine in my book. Emily I know you don't know how multiple global bestsellers get written but it starts with women like you thinking you have anything of value to provide to a woman like me. Go have a tall almond latte and complain about me to your little friends.

I guess I'll say it again for those in the cheap seats: If you cannot be kind to me at my worst, you may not hang from my tampon strings when I am at my best. And I am about to be the absolute very best. 💅🏻🐎

Let me say it again. Because tonight a woman with a fake political handle wrote to my husband and said she was concerned about me. My husband said, 'What? Did she do something to you?' Let me be clear for all the "concerned women" including a certain blond friend of mine who has a theory about blondes. I have a theory about blondes too. But back to Concerned Women: I am feeling and looking better than I ever have because I got rid of almost every single woman in my life who did not add value but only sucked me dry of information and gifts and kindness. I don't need your concern. I don't need you to write to my husband and pretend you know me. I don't need anybody or anything which is why I am acting like a Liberated White Man. The only people who understand the way I am acting are fellow happy people. Especially happy Black people. Because white people right now are having an extra yucky moment. White people who don't have the careers or children they want are angrier than ever. And Black people who don't have the careers or whatever they want, they have been dealing with inequity since the literal dawn of time. And how dare white people be angry right now at the level at which American white people are angry?Let me tell you how I know. My daughter is the best friend a kid could have, my husband is the best kids ski coach and the best screenwriter I have personally met bar none. They are kind and beautiful and I have been spending way too much time on other people who I didn't even like that much. And those people have been so mad at me for all the things I had this whole time. And I have the literal proof of their jealousy. Let me also be clear. Just because we are kind, it does not mean we are not as intelligent as evil people. We are, in fact, much smarter than most people can even compute. Like I told a former artist, whatever trick I may miss, my husband and daughter do not. And the three of us are utterly on the same page. Even when we're yelling at one another, we understand LOVE.
