Linet Sánchez Gutiérrez (Santa Clara, 1989) is a Cuban visual artist based in Havana. Working across photography, sculpture, and video, her practice centers on the creation of empty, colorless architectural spaces built as models and later photographed, filmed, or presented as sculptural objects.

Her work has been exhibited internationally throughout the Americas, Europe, and the Caribbean, including the Pérez Art Museum Miami, the Museum of Fine Arts Houston, and the National Museum of Fine Arts in Havana.

In this reel, the artist, who was invited to be part of this exhibition by another of the Cuban artists from our roster @yoancapotestudio , shares insights into her creative process, revealing how these architectural constructions are conceived and transformed across different media.

In “The Shape of Elsewhere,” the photographs of @linetsanchezart offer quiet portals into imagined interiors, spaces that never existed, yet feel intimately familiar.
 
This sense of familiarity stems from memory and emotion. Each miniature interior is carefully constructed and shot, producing final images that hold a haunting stillness. Light creeps across floorboards. Silence settles into corners. The absence of people only deepens the sense of wonder. What might these spaces have once held?
 
What emerges is a poetics of solitude: quiet places that evoke the presence of absence, not longing for a specific place, but for the connection, comfort, or clarity we once felt there.

Último capítulo de un lindo drama

El inicio del taller "Último capítulo de un lindo drama" fluyó como plan vacacional. Del 8 de julio al 2 de agosto de 2024,un grupo de estudiantes de la Academia Nacional de Bellas Artes San Alejandro y su profe －quien suscribe－, fuimos recibidos en los espacios de trabajo de jóvenes artistas insertados en el circuito del arte emergentecubano. Cada anfitrión compartió su experiencia profesional e intercambiamos criterios, dudas, risas, tips...
Muy tierno me resultó que un grupo de muchachos haya preferido charlar sobre arte, en vez de cualquier deriva veraniega por excelencia. Ante este interés comencé a valorar otras etapas del taller que no había previsto; sobre todo la culminación del proyecto con una exposición colectiva, que conectara a todos los creadores involucrados en esta aventura.Me Motivé! ❤️‍🔥

Próximamente en www.artejoven.org estará disponible material de consulta que abarca todas las etapas del proyecto.
