▪︎ Murals ▪︎
There's something about painting walls that makes me feel the most alive. Sometimes it's physically not the best feeling, but it holds my attention in ways that other forms of creating doesn't.
Painting murals requires every bit of your Self - physical, mental, emotional, and even spiritual in some cases. The wear and tear on your body. The problem solving. The submission to what we can't control. And the ability to push through all of it and succeed nonetheless...
I have worked 12+ hours days consistently to get home, maybe eat something finally, shower, knock out, wake up stiff as a board early the next morning just to get up and do it all over again. And the excitement to get back to it would remain.
My body would hurt, but in a way that told me I was really Doing something. It brings with it challenges that make the celebration that much more appreciated when finished. I'm looking forward to painting many more walls in the future 🤘🏽

- Humans -
I've learned to love painting portraits of people, but in my own way. Copying a picturing is one thing, and showing people the magic I see on them is another.
There's a deep connection that takes place when I paint people; a bond; a commitment to give the best of myself in the process so that they can receive the best when they see it.
We are all more powerful and beautiful than we give ourselves credit for, and sometimes we need other people to show us so that we can see it for ourselves. That is what I strive to accomplish with portrait pieces.

I made the Liight Ones logo to be adaptable; relatable, while remaining fixed in the root of what she represents:
The Yin & Yang has been an important symbol for me from the time I started learning what Life is really about and understanding the existence and need for dualities, especially when I realized how deeply engrained the law of polarity lives within me - from the paradox of my given name, to the Sun and Moon who rule me, to the Fire and Water I harbor, and then some... on some days, I'm a walking contradiction, and I enjoy and appreciate finding the beauty in it all. On others, there's lack of clarity; confusion and hesitation; too many possibilities to know which direction to take...
The Balance of it all,
that I have not yet found but continue to seek...
Thei iin the logo and in Liight Ones, represent those dualities; mirroring of Selves; the Universe that exists Within, and the Universe that exists Without; "as above, so below"; the i and i of the Rastafari; the Me that Lives in You, and the You that lives within Me.
It's the Connection through individuation that exists between everyone and everything -
"And stand together yet not too near together:
For the pillars of the temple stand apart,
And the oak tree and the cypress grow
not in each other's shadow."
You'll typically see my logo painted in colors that relate to the painting, but the original colors, White Black Red, represent the Light, the Dark, and the Heart and Love that flows between them.
A Liight One is not just who I see myself to be, but who I hope more and more of us aspire to be: One who embraces, becomes, and spreads Light... but in the way you can only reach through accepting, embracing, and loving your Darkness; seeing the Light and Dark / Life and Death / the Good and the Bad in Life and Knowing that it all has its place, and still striving to give the best of our Self through it.
For the most radiant Light emerges from Darkness,
and how dull a Life would be without that contrast.
Liight Ones is the hope that we all learn to Love every bit of ourselves so that we can learn to Love the World around us.

I’m at my heaviest I’ve ever been in my life. And I find it so beautiful that this is when I get to cross another line off my list…
I have a list in my bathroom of things I want to do or accomplish in different areas of my life. I started in 2022 and it’s still active because it’s long, listing things that are achieved over a lifetime. The other day as I was cleaning, I looked over to see what I could cross off, and a smile quickly unraveled on my face as my eyes saw “seeing myself as beautiful & being at ease with how I look”. Don’t get me wrong, I never thought I was ugly, but, like many people, there was always something that could be bigger, smaller, more balanced, or just – “better”. And I immediately Knew that I no longer carried any of those expectations.
The few people around me these days have heard me say “estoy chonchis” (I’m chubby) with a laugh. My size has gone up. I’ve hit a weight range I’ve never been in. My loose clothes are now fitting tighter. The good thing is that the weight mainly went to the right places. But there’s extra weight on my belly that I’m not used to. Creases and rolls that protrude regularly. And I laugh… not at the state that I’m in, but because I can’t believe how much of my life I (and so many others) have spent worrying about my physical appearance. And I’m in a place where – I. Just. Don’t. Give. A. Fuck… How ridiculous it is in the grand scheme of things; there’s so many other things to worry about and navigate these days, this sure as hell doesn’t come close to making the list.
I’ve been finding myself actively trying to release my gut when I notice I’m holding her in. For women, especially, that’s something we typically learn from a very young age, and it becomes second nature. A conditioning we never asked to be placed on us. And this made me wonder: as women; as girls, how many ways have we been made to “hold it in”? To repress our feelings; our thoughts; our desires? To stay strong in ways men and boys will never have to, and yet, have to keep our struggles to ourselves?
How long and in how many ways have you been taught to “suck it in” simply because it made other people more comfortable?

For everyone who has had the privilege to love an animal of another species...
I was reminded just the other day how much I Love my babygirl, and how she's been a support in my life I didn't know I needed.
Here's to all of the pets and those of us lucky enough to share a lifetine with them 🖤✨️

Some of us are blessed to learn that Love, transcends -
Time. Language. Species.
To Love an animal is to understand that we don't need to speak, or even fully understand, to Feel.
They aren't just pets. They're companions. Friends. Support. Loved ones.
Humans tend to believe we're above all other species. But the truth is, there is a purity in other animals that we have lost long ago. They See us, at our best. Our worst. Our most vulnerable. And, mostly, they love us through it anyway.
This was a very special project, and it reminded me of how much my dog has added to my life. I love working on projects that Mean something to other people. Thank You for letting me be a part of this. 🖤 ✨️

There is such beauty in Communion; in walking with Intention.
Such power in Showing Up for our Selves - the silent nod to the women around us letting them know it is Safe, to do the same. And in that, we simultaneously show up for one another.
The capacity Women have to hold space for others is...
Phenomenal. Natural. Elemental.
A reminder that we are meant to Move -
others; energies; ourselves - through these ebbs and flows,
swaying, dipping, Rising,
Just as the curves of our skin do.
Presence, as I was reminded, is immensely powerful. And it was felt deeply on this walk led by the wonderful @forestbath_miami
The presence of these women and this Land supported me in ways that words fall short to describe...
I left a weight I had been carrying for far too long on a Tree who held us all differently, only to be cleansed by the holy smoke as my release subsided, and to be embraced and truly Held by the lovely @giselsharmony
(Thank You, so much for that 🫂😘)
It was Beautiful. In all the ways.
Thank You for the welcome.
Thank You for the softness; the safety.
Thank You for the presence,
And for the guidance and the intention to ReConnect.
Much Love n Liight ✌🏽💚✨️🍃
