In August 2026, for the first time in 40 years, Toronto will host the JCC Maccabi Games. Alongside my dear friend Alan Perlis, I will be serving as Co-Chair for @torontojccmaccabi, building Jewish pride for Toronto and beyond.

For my family, the Maccabi Games have never been just about sport. They’ve been about identity, pride, community and belonging. I’ve watched my sons grow up through JCC sports, represent Team Toronto, compete in the U.S. and Israel, and wear their Magen Davids on the outside of their shirts, boldly and proudly. In a world where antisemitism is rising, this is not the time to hide who we are. It’s the time to stand taller, speak louder, and invest in the next generation of Jewish leaders. The 2026 Games are about building confidence, connection and Jewish pride that lasts a lifetime. As a result, assuming the role of co-chair goes beyond honour - it is a responsibility, and one that I take extremely seriously.

So how can you get involved? We’re looking for teens to try out, individuals to open their homes to the athletes coming to our city, and brands who want to partner with us. There is no doubt in my mind that the 2026 Maccabi Games will be extraordinary and unforgettable, and we have an incredible team working to make it so. It’s time to show the Jewish world and beyond who Toronto is.
