How does one start about approaching a rebrand for such a seminal record label as London Records? This was the question I asked myself as the opportunity was presented to me through talking with Laura Kelly, and hearing her vision for the label she’s brilliantly re-established over recent years.

The first step was the logo. The central component.

The brief was clear but not necessarily simple: Create a contemporary version of the iconic logo, striking a balance that still made it instantly recognisable and familiar, whilst also clearly being new and modern. This needed to be a logo to represent the present and the future, whilst also honouring the past. The first iterations of the London Records logo date back to the 1940’s after all –

Back to the question of how does one go about achieving such a brief? Well, I almost immediately knew I wanted to work with typography master, and all round creative force, Andreas Neophytou of Closer Studio. His work for Louis Vuitton, Nike, Mulberry, and so many more is just on another level, and knowing how much he loves music too, we both got excited at the prospect of leaving our mark on the lineage of such a cultural and musical institution as London Records.

Andreas nailed the brief for the logo, and working closely together we have spent the past few years developing and evolving the new visual identity of the label across record sleeves, merchandise, print advertising, and more. This piece of moving image design showcases the new logos – including LDN, which started as a ‘monogram’ version, but has now become the identity and name of a new sub-label for exciting new frontline talent. The concept for this was piece for it to feel akin to those huge moving advertising billboards we used to all see in London back in the day.

This is now featured on the homepage of the new London Records website that we recently delivered and launched for the label.

He’s the kind of DJ who takes you somewhere unexpected and makes it feel completely inevitable.

You’ll find Leo in the Tapestry Room, setting the vibe from the off. He has the ability to read an empty room, coax the energy up, and slowly pull people onto the floor. And his guiding principle has always been simple: discover and share records that genuinely excite and delight him 🪩

He’s held residencies across London, Paris and Marrakech, brought the sounds to Glastonbury and Port Eliot with his collective of like-minded DJs and music lovers, @amateurismcollective .

Couples that rave together, stay together.

This photo of @frankiephilo was taken 3-months after we first met and started dating. She had never been to Ibiza before, but I had already booked a trip with some close friends prior to us meeting.. when it got to the week of the holiday she decided to pull her first (and only!) sickie off work last minute, booked a pricey BA flight, and came out to join me and my pals for DC10 and Amnesia.

I was in awe. She was — and most certainly still is — the coolest and kindest girl I’d ever met. I’m a very very lucky boy.
