I am extremely excited to share “DEADLIGHTS” in its entirety with you today🥀🖤 I spent the last 2 years swinging wildly from one extreme of the human experience to the next: the empty abyss of grief that can only be described as sitting alone at the bottom of a well, the intensity of desire that held me softly and dreamily, and carried me into another life…and the act of jumping off the metaphorical cliff into the mystery of the unknown that has led to the ultimate sense of freedom.
For most of my life, I have been bound by the fear that the bottom was on the verge of dropping out from under me. There has been a constant low hum of uneasiness and discomfort running in the background. I’ve never fully trusted in anything or anyone. I’ve been bracing for the worst to happen. And then the worst actually happened; my mom died. The most disorientating and earth shattering thing happened, and I survived. What else can I possibly be scared of? Nothing will ever hurt me again because nothing will compare to losing her. I feel invincible now, and so overcome with the giddiness of being alive. Everything that happens from here on out feels like a bonus gift.

We’re excited to announce that Lauren Lakis will take the Waterloo Records Stage on Tuesday, May 26th at 5pm!

Lauren Lakis makes songs that are steeped in darkness, but inside of them is a sense of hope. They are propelled by the possibility of emerging on the other side feeling less alone and fully transformed. On her debut album Deadlights, set for release on RidingEasy Records on May 8, 2026, she conjures a shifting reality—one defined by both distortion and clarity. Indebted to shoe gaze and ’90s alt rock, its 10 tracks are filled with ethereal vocals, melodic guitars, and a heavy low end. It’s inspired by groups like Deftones and Hole, powerful bands that explore the emotional bottom but are able to rise from the depths.
