Our contribution to the Casa Dominó exhibition last night organized by @daniel_iu_arch with the amazing family at @prdominoclub as a special session for the @acsanational 114th Annual Meeting.
Casa Dominó is a series of architectural investigations based on altering the premises of Le Corbusier’s iconic Maison Dom-ino. Rather than a modular structure for housing, it imagines places to gather and celebrate the
cultural ritual of playing dominoes. In this variation, a pitched roof structure defines an open courtyard typology with a central garden. Eight distinct rooms, each scaled to house a single domino table, support
the roof structure along with cigar-shaped columns at the exterior corners. Modular blocks with proportions similar to concrete masonry units comprise the walls,
which are assembled using principles of circular construction.

Friends, please consider donating to the wonderful folks @omiamifestival !!
To help raise funds for this non-profit organization that builds community around the power of poetry, I’m offering a chance to buy the limited edition dominó tiles (fichas) pictured here. Each one is made of anodized black aluminum with an original engraving and name. These continue my project with O’Miami titled Lo Que Tengo Son Letras/What I Have Are Letters. Each piece celebrates the poetic language used by players of the great game of dominó throughout South Florida, the Caribbean, and the world.
A $50 donation to O,Miami will get you a single tile from the series and an original poem.
A $300 donation to O’Miami and I’ll ship the full set of 9 tiles with a custom dominó holder and an original poem.
DM me for more information and follow the link in my bio to donate. It’s a great cause!
https://mtyc.co/7n458f
I participated in the O’Miami Poetry Festival and as a mentor in their Greenhouse program this year because I believe in the positive impact that this organization is making. I appreciate the way that they weave poems into the fabric of the city- making encounters with poetry fun and accessible, yet still authentic and reflective of Miami’s culture. It’s obvious that they care about the quality of what they produce and, most importantly, about how the everyday language of South Floridians deserves to be heard as poetry.
The fundraiser lasts through November 20th, so please consider donating soon.

Lo que tengo son letras / What I have are letters reimagines the classic game of dominoes with dichos—poetic phrases passed around the table—rather than numbers. ✍️🁫
Lo que tengo son letras is a colloquial phrase used by Cuban domino players to explain a losing hand. When the numbers in their hand don’t match the dominant numbers on the table, skilled players—reluctant to admit defeat—will say they must’ve drawn letters instead of numbers.
Presented by Daniel Luis Martinez, this project celebrates the poetic language invented by domino players and invites participants to share their own dichos in English, Spanish, Castellano, Haitian Creole, and more.
You can catch Lo que tengo son letras popping up at the following events and locations during this April’s festival:
📍April 17th – Where Mangos Drop: O, Miami Variety Show presented by Miami Beach OnStage!
📍April 18th – Westchester Regional Library
📍April 19th – Miami Zine Fair
📍April 23rd – ZipOdes Finale

We are excited to break ground on the Round & Around project today in collaboration with @jonathan_nesci!!
Nestled in the Indiana hardwood forest, the Round & Around pavilion creates a new opportunity for outdoor learning and play at the Columbus Youth Camp. Designed by Jonathan Nesci, the blue structural steel dome serves as a sculpture, classroom, and play element, featuring a blue latticed woven rope hammock. The landscape, created by LAA Office, incorporates native plants, locally sourced monolithic stone steps, and a sinuous bench that follows the curve of the dome. Funding for this project was generously provided by CMAD.
