Ahhh!! One of my favourite highlights of last year. Just showcasing my writing onto a platform as amazing as @onsettmag⭐️💐!

This is probably one of my most vulnerable pieces and part of one of my upcoming projects ‘Poems and Connections’ which I finished during summertime 2024.

It was my first year being home away and learning how to navigate grief and also learning and growing through the experiences good and bad. I don’t usually showcase my work on my platform mostly on my highlights but I’m seriously not over this I can’t believe it, truly grateful 💐.

I’ve been feeling nostalgic recently. I never really speak about how I’m actually feeling during grief and 3 years after the passing of my mum but I feel her presence everyday. She was a fearful woman of God. I looked at these pictures and felt happy but also it feels bittersweet and it gets to the point I feel nostalgic and grieving a different or alternative reality to the one I’m currently living, truthfully the amount of times I prayed that it was a bad dream but it’s not and I think that’s the part that scares me the most. I can barely look at these pictures without crying it’s the fact I know she’s gone and that hurtsit truthfully and irreconcilably does. I am grieving the life before she passed and coming to terms with it ❤️.

This was an incredibly hard piece to make cause as you know I don’t really focus on the 19th century, but I can highlight the conformities that women had to go through and are still going through in different countries across the world, and I wanted to highlight it through a girl who is reluctant to follow or conform to the patriarchy💐.
