Stairs are one of the most generic objects in our built world—so familiar that we rarely stop to think about them. Yet, they offer a shift in perspective and demand immense intention to design.
I have photographed hundreds of stairs in Hong Kong and beyond. From that collection, I have gathered eighty-five for this small book—loosely categorized and placed in conversation with one another.
An ode to a forgotten object.

Amore Pacific Headquarters - Post Occupany.
9 years after completion the building has a few more objects in the lobby, a bit of wear and tear, and a lot more character. A few more colorful benches, a few more plants here and there. A few things that perhaps make it more human and ready for the next 10 years.

Each trip to Beijing isn’t complete without a stroll around the CCTV. Before CNY I was in Beijing and instead of taking photos I made some ‘moving images’. Nothing groundbreaking, just a regular Friday in the middle of winter, grey skies, and a skyscraper unlike any other. More than 15 years after my first ever eyes on this building, and I just cannot stop being fascinated by this structure.

At the end of 2025, I photographed the new Vivo HQ for @nbbjdesign
Located on a prime spot in Bao’an District of Shenzhen, this new tower spiral upwards with green terraces all the way to the top.
