“The Act of Refraction”
Shown at @nice1mcr @publicmcr
Hand painted screen
Printed using salvaged ink onto salvaged Acetate
A0
Originally a set of two prints meant to represent the distortion of reality during recording and recollection of memories.
The Surviving Print “The Act of Refraction”
. Is presented as a masculine being of death, and refers to the process of emotional condition, environmental context and past experience contributing to a distorted account of real events during the recording of a memory.
“The Act of Reflection” was intended to build upon this further. Presented as a feminine being of Rebirth. Highlighting how each recollection of a memory pushes it further away from reality. This is through The process of reciting memories through the lens of past influences and then reapplying present emotional condition, environmental context and past experiences from during the retelling. Further separating memory from reality. With this separation being compounded over time due to the repetition of this process.
However “The Act of Reflection” was unfortunately broken in production.

As some residents at @rogueartists_studios may have notice
@krass.uk has been hard to transform the small allotment next to the old nursery into a dye garden
Today marks a big day as the two new raised beds have been sown with woad seeds. A native plant to the British isles which has been used for millennia to dye fabrics shades of blue, green and sometimes even pinks.
This is part of our next project “SKY RAT” which will be a collection of pieces made with natural dye to be released early next year as part of a planned dance performance.
A big fat THANK YOU is in order to the lovely people Stretford Community Dye Garden (seen in the last pic) for helping me train myself up in the art of natural dye cultivation and Jo the leader of the group who graciously donated a heap of seed to the project.
If you want to see the work that has gone into this transformation already pls have a peak at the dye garden highlights on the Krass account and follow to keep up with new updates x <<3>
