One week ago, I was lucky enough to celebrate a milestone birthday with some of my closest friends in the Home of Golf. This was my first trip to the motherland, and I came away with a few thoughts as I prepare for my next visit.
1. Don’t try to play all the “bangers” in one trip.Make yourself a list of priority courses. Obviously, the Old Course will be at the top, but don’t overlook the local favorites. Golf in St. Andrews is going to be amazing no matter where you play. I recommend @dumbarniegolflinks and @kingsbarnsgolflinks .
2. Don’t feel the need to play 36 holes every day.Give yourself time to walk around downtown St. Andrews and get lost a little. Visit a local coffee shop like Black Sheep, or grab an afternoon gelato from @jannettas_gelateria . Head to the @oldcoursehotel and have a pint on the rooftop patio. Grab lunch at the Jigger Inn. Most importantly, enjoy a pint at the@thedunveganstandrews
3. Pack with purpose.This was probably my biggest takeaway. More than likely, you’re going to have multiple outfits each day — a golf outfit and an evening outfit. It’s important to pack intentionally when it comes to your golf gear.
