Learning from co-housing precedents; drawing from personal experience of living in 8 different student accommodations over 8 years, I am going to explore the umwelt of living as a collective and develop a scheme that is affordable, comfortable, and flexible.

Commercial co-living apartments aim to fit in a bed, kitchen, and bathroom in the smallest footprint possible and provide luxurious uninviting shared facilities so the developer can market the room as a studio to attract professional expats, oversea students, and recent middle-class immigrants. The reinvented typology is a protest to the developer-driven Instagram-able design. The proposition is to design around the routine of a young professional, providing necessary amenities in the individual units and modest shared facilities.Young renters can appropriate the use of the extra space and enjoy more intimate shared spaces.
