Strike is finished, and the set is cleared! And even though this chapter has closed, this anonymous social media manager(?) knows for a fact that history sometimes has a funny way of rhyming with the future.
Thank you for everyone who came to experience Philly Asian Futures, and a big shoutout to everyone who paved the way from Philly Asian Histories. In the immortal words of Han: “Make choices, and don’t look back.”

"A museum visit is often a trip into the past — pottery or bones, portraits painted decades or centuries ago, artifacts from epochs gone by.
But what about a museum of the future?
That’s the vision from a coalition of artists from Philly’s diverse pan-Asian community. They present a multi-disciplinary, multi-ethnic imagining of the future – not the past — in “Living Museum: Philly Asian Futures,” running Oct. 22-26."
Step into a magical kitchen, time-travel through Chinatown, sip tea in a ritual ceremony, and wander through a performance garden in Philly Asian Futures (PAF). This brand-new community-engaged, multi-disciplinary theatrical project invites audiences to experience a visionary "Living Museum" of performance October 22–26, 2025.

About the venue: Asian Arts Initiative (AAI) is piloting a new venue rental model designed to bridge the gap between short-term event rentals and long-term leases. This approach allows artists and organizations to activate AAI’s building for extended periods of time with rehearsals, performances, and community programming. Philly Asian Futures is part of this pilot, bringing the third floor to life throughout October with rehearsals and a week of installation-style performances.
By offering flexible project-based residencies, AAI aims to provide opportunities for exhibitions, productions, activations, camps, and community causes to flourish in their spaces. The full launch of this program, including new project spaces, is planned for Spring 2026.

This past month I’ve been out at @theatrehorizon working with a truly inspiring cast and creative team to put up Young Americans by Lauren Yee.To work on a play of Lauren Yee’s is an absolute dream. It’s a love letter to immigrant fathers, a roadmap for stepping into uncertainty, and a song about how dang hard it is to figure out where you belong when every societal and passed down parental pressure is aimed at an idea of “normalcy”. I really adore the world we’ve built and hope you’re able to come check it out.I’ve got a 50% discount code and a few comps if you want them. The theatre is easily reached by train and parking is very easy! I am so profoundly overwhelmed by life and grief these days but also incredibly equally measured in gratitude and awe of the community that has built this wild tender angry baby of a show. I mean I am truly the luckiest cowboi to have a band life this! Come to Plays and Players early to grab a drink (non-alcoholic or otherwise 🌶️) and enjoy the tunes of the Friends of Pete (FOP) featuring @sanninosound, @philly_phiddler, @emilyschumanmusic.
We ride tonight at 7pm and tomorrow (Saturday, 2/22) at 9pm. Pre-show tunes kick off 20 minutes or so before show times - running on cowboi time of course.
Here’s photos from Plays and Players 2023 to now!
Endless gratitude to @diecast.philly and @kitcatillac
