For this bioluminescent crustacean, we explored a wide range of design possibilities. Once a design was approved, the build came together quite quickly, allowing us to focus on the daylight and blacklight paint jobs.

The movement of this crustacean was achieved through a mix of buoyant plastics, silicone appendages, water current and a small motor to push the creature through the sand.

The goal of this week was simply to practice install, deinstall and documentation. For those of you wanting to see it in person we will be installing in galleries in the future that are more suitable for public visits. I’d like to also thank Dave Kemp, Meazy and Joon at TMU for helping organize this space.

This week at @tmuimagearts I installed my gallery for the first time.

This exhibit aims to remove the “absolute truth” involved in scientific practice by presenting fictional creatures that were created with evolutionary concepts in mind. It aims to redirect attention back to what science truly is: curiosity.
