NEW INTERVIEW ALERT! "We should see how many disco records were made in the winter," Kevin Drew @kevinselection of @brokensocialscene said. And with that, we ventured into the intersection of songwriting and meteorology: how weather patterns and temperature affect the creative mind.
Broadly speaking, the Canadian songwriters I've interviewed tend to be seasonal writers. Many write more during the winter, when they're likely to be holed up inside. Drew and I even dared start a new east coast vs. west coast feud and explored whether east coast writers are more productive because their seasons are more defined. But regardless of location, Drew says morning is his best time for writing because "it's one of my best chances to be free."

Today is the release of our third track from the new BSS. Andrew called me amongst the beginnings of our return and told me he wanted a song. It’s obvious to the notion of “why” within this band that no one needs to ask. The song decides for us. He went into the studio with our producer David Newfeld and they conjured this beauty which is such a tattoo of tomorrow’s spirt.Andrew did his truth juice, Jill came in and glowed, Cranley blew up his horns , Rach shook the claps, Charlie went full U2, Justin glided with the drums and Newf played and designed it all to gel into one. I love this jam and getting this one to land was a very wild ride within the finish line of opinions joining together. Asking our visual director Jordan to use his guts on this was exactly what was needed. This video is the reason why we have been working with him for 8 years. I adore his urgency amongst his visual choices. I hope you enjoy it. @brokensocialscene @intarotgate @jillylisa @cranleycooks @rachelmcln @charlesspearin @jp_drumming @jrdnall
