The arrival of @failurebandig ’s Location Lost — the L.A. trio’s fourth album since reuniting in 2014 — is a precious thing. That vocalist and multi-instrumentalist Ken Andrews almost died before they could even record it makes this all the more special.

Heard from @andrewsken on the path to the band’s latest LP, from an at-home back injury and hallucinatory post-surgery complications, to jamming his way back to Failure with his bandmates and @yelyahwilliams .

Ken hits on: the painful recovery period that inspired “The Air’s on Fire”; bringing friend and fan Hayley Williams onto “The Rising Skyline,” an extremely rare Failure studio collab; the influence of the Cure, the Banshees and Depeche Mode; getting back into the rhythm with his bandmates and lyric-writing; and how you “can’t help but infuse the work with whatever is top-of-mind, you know?”
