I’ve never called myself a runner… just someone who likes to run, but at some point in my early adult life it became a constant that is hard to live without. As much as there are days when I dread getting up to run in the cold, there are days when running is the thing that gets me out of bed when parts of life feel unbearable.

This race felt like a redemption. After being told I should “never squat again with weight”, years of finding good PT, a stress fracture, a tendon tear, broken toes (2 maybe 3?), making it to this finish line with a certain time was a goal I latched onto to prove to myself what I was capable of.

Couldn’t have done it without @midlife_runner’s coaching the last 2 months of training, and @physiologicnyc for always putting me back together.

Thank you to @melissa.chisholm for being the catalyst, to everyone I saw cheering me on (@hburkman @zack_trak @kenziekingphoto @lilaig), @abbelew for being my rabbit from mile 8-12, and my family for schlepping out to Coney Island to cheer me on. I’ll always be grateful. 🥺

I said I would never do it again but ask me again after my knees have had some time to rest 😂.
