Our Staff Meal Series goes to Penang, where @yauchin98 and the team behind @genpenang have whipped up a feast of the islandโs most famed street food dishes, from Char Kuey Teow that rivals some of Penangโs street stalls to Assam Laksa with grouper and Fruit Rojak. One thing is for sure, the team at gฤn ๆ น, @communaltablegen, and @winenotpg definitely take their family meal very seriously.

From the early hours of the morning, Cat Liew can be seen frying up crispy sticks of youtiao and ham chim peng at Penangโs @cakoi_166. The art of making the crispy dough fritters runs in her blood - her whole family, from her dad to her brothers, also run youtiao stalls. While Cakoi 166 may not look like your typical youtiao stall with its retro interior stacked with trinkets and books, Liewโs youtiao, ma jiao, and ham chim peng (filled with the likes of red bean, sticky rice, cinnamon, and coconut gula Melaka) speak for itself.

The interesting thing is that I am lactose intolerant ๐ฎ But that aside, @fromagekl is a treasure trove for those who are as obsessed with cheese as I am ๐ง๐

Adityaโs mum used to run a bubur stall in a wet market, and he recalls days from his childhood helping his mum in the kitchen. His favourite way to eat the porridge is actually with a ladle of spicy tomyum broth.

Did you know White Rabbit ๐ is from Shanghai? I used to eat this all the time as a kid and thought it was Malaysian ๐ My favourite part was always the edible glutinous rice paper (but I recently found out itโs just to protect the candy from sticking to the wrapper).
