Warehouse Party! (tix up in the bayou)
Slow Grind Fever returns to the industrial back streets of Brunswick Sat April 18 for a classic DIY BYO warehouse party. Low light, deep smoke and the sultriest, slinkiest, spaciest of sounds, spanning 1976 to THE EDGE OF TOMORROW.

We are stoked to have @jeremy_spellacey (globetrotting research and licencing specialist for Soundway Records) back in town and in the Slow Grind Fever booth for the first time in AGES, alongside your host Richie1250 and special guests @bec.bartlett (@social.disco ), Lou Rose (@lovesensation.party ), @brontesaurussex and @kasindaf (Ella Thompson, Temporary Blessings, Owelu Dreamhouse) lacing up the records with LIVE FLUTE, cos we can't get enough flute here at SGF HQ.

Sat April 18 - 9pm til late (planning to go until 3am but you know how it go with these DIY things, there's always a possibility we could be forced to stop earlier or that we go a little later)

BYO BOOZE & MIXERS (Plenty of cups and a couple tubs of ice to put in drinks provided, if you want to keep drinks cold throughout the nice BYO Esky or cooler bag)

NOTES:

- Location is in Brunswick, ticket holders will be sent address on the morning of the dance.

- There will be a smoke machine going all night and it will get very smokey. The smoke is non-toxic but if you ain't into smoke machines this might not be the party for you...

- The dancefloor at Slow Grind events is for dancing. If you need to use your phone or have a conversation, please do it over in the hallway or go outside and get some fresh air. (We don't mind you taking a quick photo or video to post up later on or saying hello to your friends, but standing in the middle of the dancefloor staring down at your phone or talking loudly is poor Slow Grind etiquette)

- The vibe of the night is very hazy and sultry, but the vibe is also about having good manners. Don't be all up in someone's personal space if they aren't inviting you.

It was a strange coincidence when the music of the recently late @ebo.taylor came into my life, Conflict was my favourite record at the time, I couldn't stop playing it over and over again, the freedom it brought me to be bold, be colourful and expressive- It was obsessive and it coloured my days in 2024.

Coincidentally, he was coming to Melbourne town performing @melbjazzfestival with the @thepublicopinionafroorchestra there was something in me that new I had to be there for this show, a part of my African consciousness.

This track What is Life has a particularly fun flute line (which is another reason for the love of Ebo's music)

Anyway, may uncle Ebo rest in peace. His music made me more open to experience this technicolour life. When the world beats me down I return to his music.
