The Devil Never Lies plans to display that those who are a part of the QTBIPOC community are not a threat. But it also doesn’t mean that you can just mess with us and get away with it, simply because we possess marginalized identities; we will fight back, because so often it is life or death for us.

LOGLINE
After stealing the sign of an aggressively Christian street picketer, two defiant and gender non-conforming roommates are kidnapped by said man in order to force the duo to adhere to the gender binary he believes to be morally and religiously virtuous.

Why now?
Humans have been around for a while and yet we are still hyper-focused on the differences between us and not the fact that we are all flesh and blood. BIPOC and LGBTQIA+ individuals are at the forefront of politics at the moment; with all sorts of legislation and targeted attacks against those who align with my own intersectional identity. Intersectional art, and queer art specifically has always been seen as an act of rebellion. So whether or not this short was produced two decades ago or today, it is absolutely essential to tell stories like this in order to represent the reality of the world we all live in. Which thankfully includes an assortment of colorful and wonderful characters who have a wide breadth of identities which are often under or misrepresented in Hollywood. Our shoot will be June 2026 (Pride Month), which I believe is a perfect way to honor the spirit of pride and it’s importance to our many communities.
